The Works

Uri Shafir • The Waiting Hollow

Three dancers linger in a space suspended between presence and absence, caught in the tension of anticipation.
Wearing traces of past choreographies, their bodies navigate a landscape of half-remembered rules:
gestures that once held meaning, now empty, absurd, or maybe sacred.
In a cruel poetics of waiting – of what could have been, of what never arrives, the work meditates on what it means to be left behind, to be jeperdized, and to keep holding onto a world that keeps slipping away.

Nadi Yoel • Light Me Up

What will happen if we stare into the great darkness
What becomes possible within the great darkness
What remains in the great darkness
What do we hear
What do we lose
What do we find
How do we look into the great darkness
It might be a chance to start again, to return to Genesis
Me. You. And the great darkness.

A body seeks its way between darkness and light — unfolding through the choreographic and the visual, the abstract and the aesthetic, the whole and the fragmented, the momentary and the enduring, the seen and the heard.

*Partial nudity, the show takes place in complete darkness and includes flashes of light.

The Artists

Uri Shafir is a dance and performance maker. A graduate of the Kibbutz Ga’aton Dance Workshop, Kelim Choreography Center (Israel), and the MASTER EXERCE program at ICI-CCN, part of the MA choreography studies in Montpellier, France. Uri has been creating independent works since 2009 and presenting them on different platforms and festivals in Israel and abroad. He took his first steps as a dancer in the Batsheva Ensemble Dance Company and participated in dance works by Yasmeen Godder, Niv Sheinfeld & Oren Laor, Dana Ruttenberg, and others. Uri is a Gaga teacher (Ohad Naharin’s movement language), leading classes and workshops around the globe. Uri also instructs classes and seminars investigating his working materials and choreographic methods and is teaching at the Kibbutzim College of Arts in Tel Aviv.

Nadi Nadav Yoel is an independent artist, performer, and movement therapist. As part of his research, he examines the influence of social constructs and their manifestation in the body. His works draw inspiration from sources that seek to liberate the individual from systems of oppression and wish to challenge what is perceived as natural and normative. His works have been shown in festivals in Israel and Europe. He has performed with choreographers such as Adi Boutrous, Maayan Cohen Marciano, and Gali Kinkolkin. He graduated from the ROAR program (Berlin) and the choreographers’ program at Kelim Center and holds an M.A.A.T of DMT from Kibbutzim College.
