The Work

In Destinies, Noa seeks to explore and engage with the fate of our ever-changing bodies. We seem to need markers and interruptions within the continuous flow of time. The encounter with the body and its transformation represents an encounter with fate, with limitation, with that which cannot be altered. By observing the unfolding destiny of the body over time, we can touch upon the dimension of time itself. Like the body, it is given to us as fate, and we engage in an ongoing, infinite spiritual dialogue with it.

Alongside the passing chain of time, there is a ritual—a fixed sequence that appears unchanging, its fate seemingly predetermined, like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Ritual is essential to us, embodying a sense of continuous existence—”going on being” (Winnicott)—and fostering belonging. Yet, while the ritual itself remains constant, our relationship to it evolves over the course of our lives.
