The Event

Puppet Party, Ah.. I see, and the panel led by Nave Rachman, is a curated event exploring the terrain of post-trauma and shell shock through cultural and embodied perspectives. It asks how, culturally, we frame trauma—and how it manifests through the body.

At its core, the program investigates the tension between recognition and categorization, between naming and the lived, often unspoken experience of trauma. It asks: What does a traumatized body become exposed to and experience in the encounter with the stage, with the audience? What cultural narratives define which wounded bodies are seen as heroic, and which are pathologized, hidden, or dismissed?

Theater becomes a space to hold the overwhelming, the illegible, the too-much. We explore how post-traumatic states unsettle the body’s relation to time, space, and expression—inviting us to process these dynamics in a shared environment of witnessing the other.

The Screening

Itamar Galina Puppet Party

Itamar Galina’s debut film, the dance documentary Puppet Party, was created from the depth of his personal experience—coping with post-trauma and living alongside it. The work blends dance, music, and fantasy to touch on the emotional complexity of trauma, memory, and male identity. Through choreographed scenes, grotesque characters, and documentary footage, the film reveals an honest inner journey that moves between body and wound, imagination and reality. This initial exposure of a work-in-progress aims to create an intimate and direct encounter with the audience.

It’s a raw, multi-layered exploration of identity, memory, and the possibility of healing through art.

Itamar Galina, 31, is an independent creator, director, choreographer, dancer, and musician based in Tel Aviv. His work moves between film, contemporary dance, performance, and music. He discovered dance at 24 through the movement program in Mitzpe Ramon and later graduated from the Sadna Professional Dance Program in Gaaton. He was a member of the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company’s second troupe. Today, he dances in independent projects and is an active creator in local and international dance scenes. His works have been presented at major festivals in Israel and across Europe.

The Performance

Yossi Daniel •  Ah.. I See

We are not the same. We try to listen to each other because we know; we know something that we know. We are physical and soft, each one on one’s own or together. Sometimes, it looks like a fight, other times, like friendship, and the music is with us, changing and trying to reach the change in us. This piece is not about all of that; for us, it’s about trying to see what happens after that when nothing more can be done.

Yossi Daniel, 38, began his career at a young age as an athlete in various sports such as surfing, basketball, and athletics. He started dancing for the first time at the age of 30 in “Fata Morgana,” a dance and movement study program based in Mitzpe Ramon and continued his studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. He worked and performed alongside choreographer Talia Beck. These days he works as an independent dancer and a surf instructor as he continues to expand his dance and creative practices.
