A historical tour of the Suzanne Dellal Centre, exploring the story of the site and its evolution into Israel’s home for contemporary dance. The tour concludes with a behind-the-scenes glimpse into choreographer Dvir Seig’s creative process for TERRA – a raw and physical duet that explores listening, control, and interdependence through an elastic loop connecting two performers, creating a physical world governed by its own rules. The tour is led by Claudio Kogon, Deputy Director of the Suzanne Dellal Centre, and the creative process session is led by Naomi Perlov, Artistic Director of the Suzanne Dellal Centre.
TERRA is an intimate and physical duet that explores listening, control, and interdependence between partners through an elastic loop.
A resistance band connects the dancers’ pelvises, creating a unique movement language. The loop presents a physical challenge that makes it difficult for them to remain attentive to each other, while simultaneously enabling physical possibilities that could not be achieved without it.
The work is built around a system of scores. At any given moment, either performer can make a decision that affects their partner and the piece’s trajectory. Each performance brings a different emotional and physical journey, directly shaping the audience’s experience.
In TERRA, Sayag examines boundaries and freedom of holding and releasing control, confronting trust issues, the desire for love, and the need to break free from the chains of the past.
Independent choreographer Dvir Sayag graduated from Vertigo Dance Company’s dance program. Before that, he completed the Teder Residency Program for Emerging Artists at Beit Yael, a community of dance and performance artists in Jerusalem, operated by the Jerusalem Municipality. During his time at the residency, he created Terra.
Sayag strongly believes that the processes we undergo as human beings and the processes we experience through artistic creation are inseparable. He strives to bring emotional authenticity and vulnerability to the stage, drawing from his personal experiences and inner world.
